Chiropractic Care Q&A

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a type of integrative medicine. It uses hands-on manipulation and other noninvasive techniques to realign your joints, encourage mobility, and improve your well-being.

At his self-titled practice, Dr. Addona regularly uses chiropractic care to treat conditions affecting the:

  • Bones
  • Muscles
  • Joints
  • Connective tissue
  • Cartilage

If you experience chronic pain or have an injury that just won’t heal, chiropractic care may be able to provide relief.

What conditions can benefit from chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a safe and effective way to treat various musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Accident injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Work injuries
  • Back pain
  • Herniated discs
  • Lower back pain
  • Migraines
  • Neck pain
  • Sciatica
  • Shoulder pain

You might also benefit from chiropractic care if you’re pregnant and want relief from the associated aches and pains.

What types of treatment does chiropractic care provide?

Dr. Addona offers several types of chiropractic care, including:

Manual treatment

During manual treatment, Dr. Addona uses his hand or a special handheld tool to manipulate your vertebrae, improving the alignment of your spine. When your bones and joints are in alignment, they function better and are less likely to cause pain.

Extracorporeal pulse activation technology (EPAT®)

EPAT is a noninvasive treatment technique that uses targeted acoustic energy to speed up your body’s healing process. During treatment, Dr. Addona runs a small, wand-like device over an injured or diseased area of tissue –– like a joint or a muscle.

The wand emits high-frequency sound waves that stimulate your metabolism and increase circulation to the area. When combined, these factors encourage the formation of new cells and tissue while relieving pain.

Flexion distraction

Flexion distraction is an outpatient procedure that occurs on a motorized table. During treatment, you lie down on your back or stomach and Dr. Addona uses computer controls to safely stretch your spine. Stretching your spine relieves pain and reduces the risk of common issues like herniated discs.

What type of chiropractic care is right for me?

Only a qualified chiropractor, like Dr. Addona can determine the type of chiropractic care that will most benefit you. Following an exam, a review of your health history, and a discussion of your symptoms, Dr. Addona can make recommendations that align with your needs.
